Manifestation of Entrepreneurial Sisterhood
You catch a glimpse of each other’s eyes as the chaos of your first major entrepreneurial success roles around you. Product is flying, energy is being thrown around like you’ve never experienced before. You’re selling out. You’re watching people light up with love as they frolick through your shop. You can barely move, there’s so many bodies. Yet, there’s a synthesis, an alignment. You created something. Your little baby business isn’t so baby anymore. It’s blossoming in real time, the sound of the bass booming in the background, the sounds of Elements Festival 2025.

You are Kate, 24, and Kelly, 26, of Mahopac, New York. Owners, curators and the soul behind Kamaru Clothing. Kamaru offers high quality, soft as butter, pashmina style hoodies, pants and more. They are known for their comfort, androgynous fit and unique silhouette. If you’ve put one of these on your body, you know. It takes the afters to another level. Cozy up at camp, enjoy your mushrooms and feel blessed to be wrapped in such gentle material. Festival heads know the importance of a soft moment after releasing their inner demons. Kamaru Clothing has you covered.

Kate met Kelly in highschool. They always talked about being business partners: match made by sacred manifestation? You tell me. Look at what they’ve created.
Kelly stepped into the business in 2023, partnering with Kate, to help when they began having problems meeting demand. “When Kamaru took off, there was no question in having Kelly build it with me because solo success is cool, but building something with your friends is way cooler.”, Kate told me.
They work together to build stronger supply chains, advance their communication skills and embrace social media marketing. Partnering with your best friend comes with its challenges. These two women have utilized their connection to build something, not only for themselves, but for each other.
Advice from the source? Delegate with care. Use each other’s strengths and weaknesses to run tasks. Communicate everything thoroughly and in good timing. Stick to your goals and don’t sweat the mistakes. “Work ethic matters when you co-own a business because the success of your business depends on it. When you own a business, work is technically optional everyday. You have to trust that your partner is responsible, reliable and committed to the success and vision of the business.”, said Kate. “When conflict arises the goal is always resolution because losing the friendship and business we built together is not part of our plan.”

Kamaru was built on hard work, dedication and the power of manifestation. From Kate herself, “I’ve known about the power of manifestation for many years, but I didn’t fully implement it into my life until Kamaru. I finally found something that I was passionate about, so it was natural to affirm and manifest our future in positive and “unrealistic” ways. We had a whiteboard in our first little Kamaru “office” where we wrote down goals that seemed crazy at the time. Today, we have accomplished almost all of them.”
Manifestation became a theme in her life when she started raising her brand. A woman with something to build. A mission of cosmic delegation. Kate uses her business to build her future. “I don’t think we’ve ever had a day where we don’t speak about Kamaru…”, she mentioned. Manifesting your own success is daily business. She told me you must dream it big, think big and take the opportunities that are being dealt your way, “We are also very specific with the words we use when discussing Kamaru. Using “when we” instead of “if we” and speaking as though we already accomplished a goal. I really didn’t understand “creating your own reality” until now. It’s absolutely possible if you love what you do and show gratitude along the way.”

Another key attribute to be admired about her company is it’s natural state of inclusivity. Kamaru can be worn by all genders, cultures, or sizes of people. This came naturally to Kate as an androgynous woman. Her love of baggy clothes and masculine cuts make her designs stand out. It truly shows her heart is in the culture of Festivals; the ability to transform into a new environment while simultaneously aligning with it. That’s real comfort, a comfort we all know and search for. “…the intriguing idea of being fully covered in the soft material…”, she gets us.

Festivals have become a big part of Kate’s life. “I was absolutely inspired by going to EDM festivals, wearing pashminas myself, and trying to find clothing I felt comfortable in.”, she told me. “Festivals have definitely changed (me). Mentally, festivals have greatly increased my confidence and overall motivation for life. They are one of the only places where I feel safe and comfortable enough to be completely myself.”, a reminiscence in her tone. “…festivals really opened my eyes to how I could change my life with thought. In my day to day life I experience synchronicities, but when I’m at festivals they seem to happen a lot more. Festivals helped me realize that if I am vibrating on a high level and focusing on joy, gratitude, and love, things effortlessly flow to me. Everytime I leave a festival I am reminded of this and try to keep the energy for as long as I can.”, she claims only truth. We all search for this experience in one way or another here on Earth. The moving force of gratitude that comes with finding community, art and magic is endless once uncovered. The power of us is the power of I.

Hulaween 2022, “As I was admiring a giant troll sculpture one night I thought to myself “If someone’s job is to make this, I can really do anything in this life”.” An idea is sparked and a woman is intrigued with her potential. She creates a space for herself online and starts sharing her designs. Growth. Submersion 2023, she vends her first major festival. Growth and from there, more growth. Fast forward, it’s Submersion 2025, and she has the full circle moment. Standing in the place she started. A beautiful and powerful transcendance of gratitude. “One night, I was walking back to our booth after seeing one of my favorite artists and kept thinking to myself, “How is this my life and how did I get so lucky?”. Somehow I get to go to festivals with my best friend, listen to my favorite music, and meet cool people, all while selling creations I’m proud of… I quite literally couldn’t ask for more.”, she told me. Just her and the stars. Her moment with the universe and the life she created for herself. A dream actualized in the simple beauty of independence.

“Fem friendship and sisterhood are everything to me. Life is a series of ups and downs, and the women in my life have always been there to keep me grounded. I think it’s beyond important to have friends in your life that support, understand and celebrate you.”, she goes on. A wise lesson from Mama Kamaru to us all, “…when I was younger my Mom really instilled the importance of being independent and more specifically, financially independent as a woman. I feel proud of myself for accomplishing that and not having to rely on anyone else to build the life I want.”
Mama knew what to teach. Kate and Kelly are an outstanding example of what happens when women support women. As rising stars in the world of festival fashion, they stressed the importance of building business through community and connection. It’s important to have a great support system around you when building something that’s never been done before.
